Box 158Moffett Field, CA 94035 Aeromagnetic surveys were conducted to improve understanding of the geology and structure in northeastern California, a region predominantly covered by Quaternary Tertiary, mainly Neogene, volcanic rocks including Medicine Lake volcano. New aeromagnetic data are substantial improvement over existing reveal structural details not resolved older surveys. Here we show how these (1) do support presence northwest-striking feature across Modoc Plateau, (2) northeast-striking fault-bounded block reversely magnetized material that may influence tectonism at volcano, (3) constrain possible right-lateral offsets along Likely Fault Zone other faults traverse region. The also highlight extensions mapped faults, such as those Fall River Valley Tule Lower Klamath areas.

Abundances of Small Mammals in Fir Forests in Northeastern California
We compared abundances of seven species of forest rodents among three types of fir (Abies concolor and A. magnifica) forest: unlogged old-growth, unlogged mature, and shelterwood-logged old-growth. Small mammals were livetrapped during summers 1991 and 1992 in four grids within each type of forest; grids were located in the Lassen National Forest in northeastern California. Shelterwood-logged f...

Forest managers need accurate biomass equations to plan thinning for fuel reduction or energy production. Estimates of carbon sequestration also rely upon such equations. The current allometric equations for ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa) commonly employed for California forests were developed elsewhere, and are often applied without consideration potential for spatial or temporal variability...
متن کاملThe Paleomagnetic Significance of Aeromagnetic Surveys of the Hawaiian Islands!
Aeromagnetic surveys of the Hawaiian Islands have revealed that the pr imary magnetic anomalies associated with the islands are dipole anomalies caused by the intrusive rocks of the volcanic centers and rift zones. Comparisons of the direction of magn etization indicated by the dipole anomalies with results of laboratory measurements on iavas show that in many cases the lavas possess reverse po...
متن کاملAutonomous Aeromagnetic Surveys Using a Fluxgate Magnetometer
Recent advances in the research of autonomous vehicles have showed a vast range of applications, such as exploration, surveillance and environmental monitoring. Considering the mining industry, it is possible to use such vehicles in the prospection of minerals of commercial interest beneath the ground. However, tasks such as geophysical surveys are highly dependent on specific sensors, which mo...
متن کاملLong-term effects of thinning and fertilization on growth of red fir in northeastern California
To determine the impact of fertilization and thinning on growth and development of red fir (Abies magnifica A. Murr.) stands, we established an experiment in a 60-year-old stand using a 2 × 3 factorial design with nitrogen-fertilized and nonfertilized treatments and three stocking levels. Plots were established in 1976 and were measured every 5 years for 26 years. The periodic annual increment ...
